HALL OF SHAME

Following the shocking results of the initial Black Strikes study, further data has been collected, expanding the research to over 500 trials and more than 23,000 jurors. Using this data blackstrikes.com has taken the unprecedented move of unmasking the Jefferson Parish prosecutors, past and present.

We analyzed the peremptory strike patterns of over sixty different prosecutors, and from the results have developed a Major League Table.  There are too many prosecutors to mention with similar startling Black Strike rates, but the Major League deserve special mention because of some head-in-hands career achievements.

The Black Strike Average shows how often the prosecutor strikes African Americans in jury selection. For example, a prosecutor with a Black Strike Average of 60%, strikes three out of five African-American prospective jurors. The Black Strikes Rate shows how much more often the prosecutor strikes blacks than whites.  So, a prosecutor with a Black Strikes Rate of 3 strikes blacks three times more often than whites
.

We aim to gather more data and keep this table updated as the Black Strikes team continues to shine the light on the Jefferson parish District Attorney’s office.
